A new competition has been created for the 2015 Rock’n Ribs BBQ Festival for all of our teams, volunteers and bands to see which teams can earn the title of social media champs!

How To Participate

It is super easy! Simply use the hashtag #RockNRibs when making any posts about Rock’n Ribs BBQ Festival. You should also include a unique hashtag for either your team name, your tent number, band name or volunteering position so the judging panel can easily identify your posts and give you credit for them. Your goal is to try to get as many people as possible to use #RockNRibs and your team name and/or booth number, band name or your volunteer activities in their own social media posts. We are aggregating 7 social media platforms into a single feed, so feel free to use any of those to get credit.

We encourage you to use your creativity to help generate buzz for your team, band and volunteering as well as the event!

Dates/Times

April 1, 2015 through 1pm CST April 25, 2015 – awards will be given at the ceremony on 4/25/15.

Prizes

  • 1st Place – $200 VISA Gift Card + Trophy
  • 2nd Place – $100 VISA Gift Card + Trophy
  • 3rd Place – $50 VISA Gift Card + Trophy

Social Networks

We will be aggregating engagement and impressions from the following social media networks, so feel free to use whichever you are the most comfortable with:

  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Google+
  • Instagram
  • Vine
  • Tumblr
  • Flickr

Judging

A panel of social media experts and Rock’n Ribs officials will be judging based on the following criteria:

  1. Engagement (likes, comments, shares, @replies, retweets, mentions etc…)
  2. Quality of Content (cool photos, video, event experiences, promotion of charities etc…)
  3. Creativity (creative solutions to increasing the use of #RockNRibs)

Contest Tips

Rock’n Ribs has the following social media profiles: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn & Instagram. To help boost your chances of winning & the festival’s visibility, we kindly ask that in addition to using the hashtag #RocknRibs, that you also tag us on social where applicable. Please see the following instructions:

Facebook:  For a page to tag another page, the page & or the administrator using the page must “Like” the page they are trying to tag. (Like the page here: https://www.facebook.com/RocknRibs) Once that step is complete, as you are making a post, simply begin to type @Rock’n Ribs BBQ Festival. A drop down box should appear asking you to choose the Rock’n Ribs Facebook page for tagging. You will know this has been successful if “Rock’n Ribs BBQ Festival” is highlighted in blue within your post. (Note: not applicable on posts made from mobile devices.)

Twitter: For a profile to tag another profile, simply use the mention keystroke, “@“ & type the username. You will need to type “@RocknRibsBBQ” within your tweet to mention Rock’n Ribs BBQ Festival. (Follow here: https://twitter.com/RocknRibsBBQ)

Instagram:  For a profile to tag another profile, the profile must “follow” the profile they are trying to tag. Once that step is complete, as you are making a post & have uploaded your image, click the “Tag People” option & begin typing in the username “RockNRibsBBQFestival”. A drop down box should appear asking you to choose the Rock’n Ribs Instagram account for tagging. You will know this has been successful if “RocknRibsBBQFestival” is then listed beside the “Tag People” category while making your post.
